Dryer Vent Cleaning
Over time, lint, fibers, and dust build up in dryer vents. Animals nest in dryer vents–leaving behind the nests, droppings, and their dead. Blockages in the dryer vent can cause the dryer to malfunction, overheat, and catch fire.
The U.S. Fire Administration estimates that 2900 homes catch fire each year from clothes dryer fires. Annually in the U.S., 5 lives are lost, 100 people are injured, and $35 million in property damage result from clothes dryer fires. According to the USFA, most dryer fires occur in fall and winter. Most dryer fires happen in January.
Restrictions and blockages in your dryer vent not only can cause a fire, but it also effects how your dryer works. Poor airflow causes longer drying times–wasting energy and causing malfunctions in the “auto dry” system. When your dryer is not working at peak efficiency, it wastes energy and your money.
According to the USFA, dryer vent pipes should be cleaned every 3 months. Flexible dryer vents collect more lint and may need more attention than rigid vents (we recommend rigid vents whenever possible).
Our dryer vent cleaning includes cleaning the vent pipe and cover–and the dryer exhaust, lint filter, and moisture sensors.
